Who is behind the Online Språkcafé project?
Hey! :) My name is Ivana. I come from Croatia and have been living in Sweden for some time now. I am a medical doctor by education, having graduated from the School of Medicine, University of Zagreb in 2007. After completing my internship, I worked as a teacher in medical education. I have taught more than 10 different subjects such as anatomy, physiology, dermatology, pharmacology, epidemiology, social medicine, first aid, etc.
About the Online Språkcafé project
After gaining experience participating in different språkcafés while learning Swedish, I started an online språkcafé as a hobby project in December 2023.
The support from my friends, many of whom I have met at different språkcafés, and all those who participated in our språkcafé sessions, has been of great help along the way. Their feedback, advice, positive energy, and willingness to learn and share life experiences have kept me inspired and focused in my quest to create a comfortable and motivating environment for practicing speaking Swedish.
In January of this year, I created this website so that as many people as possible who want to improve their Swedish speaking skills can join us.
Practicing speaking enables us to transform our passive knowledge into an active form that is actually usable. And the online format adds additional value to all of this: it allows us to access it from the comfort of our own home with just a few clicks and connect with people from all over the world with a common goal in mind - to learn and share. I find it simply beautiful and utterly inspiring.
That is why I'm determined to offer the best experience to those who give us their time and goodwill, and I consider our participant's feedback to be an absolutely crucial step in that.
I hope that over time, Online Språkcafé will offer more interesting content on various topics, as well as other features, and our språkcafé will remain the heart of it all - a place to meet, talk and learn.
